When you think of religion do you think of inner peace and love?
I think of the crusades, 9/11, the holocaust, people attacking Mohammed every day, and Jesus being killed 0n a cross, the Westboro Baptist church.
I'd like to believe the majority of people don't hate based on religion, because of how old society is.
I just think its odd that a few cunning individuals can rally the masses to hate eachother.

Dear Favorite Person-
ReplyDeleteI think the fact that we're human is what causes what you're talking about. I think religion is supposed to bring peace, love, joy, and stability to your life, but we're just bad at it. Actually, I guess it'd be more appropriate to say that the majority of us aren't very good at thinking/sharing our ideas, but we're pretty awesome at following those who can. Being a follower is a whole bunch easier than being a thinker. In my mind, the people who do think are divided into two categories- those who use their abilities for good, and those who don't. The trouble is, both sets of thinkers believe that their cause is "the good one". I guess that's where society runs into problems - when human nature comes into play with things like this. Odd? I'd say so. But only because I think human nature is. Good thoughts! Hope you had a nice day.
