Poetry, after hours

A poem I wrote up. Right now its 2:09, but the thing down there will say something else until I fix it. I'm sorry, but this poem doesn't rhyme. Its a poem about departure. This is dedicated to a friend, and subsequently the friend of my friend who would just be a peer to me.

In my sight,
In my thoughts,
In my future,

Out of it all,
There it goes,
The world worked it ways.

Taking you,
To where you go,
Away from me.

Taking candy from a baby,
Taking gold from a pirate,
Taking the life of a grandfather,
A lively grandfather, with questionable heath,
Held together by love.

But the love lives on,
In every child,
Every Grandchild

  2. With the rhyming thing, a lot of really wonderful and inspirational poems aren't written in rhyme, so I don't think you have to worry about it. In my opinion, if the message is clear, rhyming isn't important. I kind of see it as a limiting factor...like it can add rhythm sometimes, but for the most part it's kind of a pain to rhyme and get your message across at the same time.
But I believe you accomplished the point and message in this poem, and I must say I do enjoy reading your poetry. (: I'm sure whoever you wrote this for really appreciates it
